John Griffith: From Troubled Teen to Animal Planet Host

Screenshot, Animal Planet

John Griffith, whorose to internet fame alongside his Fortuna California Conservation Corps members for having dance moves, has taken his love of nature to a new show for Animal Planet called Wild Jobs.

But he was, by his own admission, a bad kid. "It led to me experimenting with drugs and alcohol, way too early and way too hardcore."

But through his tumultuous teenage years, which included running away, being kicked out of his house, and a stint in Narcotics Anonymous, nature itself helped stabilize him.

With Wild Jobs, Griffith takes that love of the outdoors to the small screen. Really small screens, actually - it's the first debut digital-only show from Animal Planet.

Griffith talks to KHSU about his path to Wild Jobs, which the includes CCC, Redwood Summer, Humboldt Wildlife Care Center, and working to make the outdoors more inclusive.
