With host Monica Topping, this small-batch radio and TV show highlights Humboldt's performing artists. In the weeks to come, you'll hear local funk, vocal jazz, poetry, vocal chamber music, and heavy metal - which is where the series kicks off.

Founded in 2011, Lord Ellis brings together 25 years of Humboldt County rock tradition. Bands like The Hitch, Dragged by Horses, Sáke and Grimace were the precursors of this latest incarnation.

Today, Lord Ellis (as in the summit on CA-299) draws inspiration from towering redwoods and sharky waters, as well as heavy rock bands of the late 70's.

What you're about to hear was recorded live at the Arcata Playhouse in front of a live audience.

You'll also sneak backstage to hear from the band members about their weirdest local gig, involving motorcycles and elk.

Lord Ellis is:

  • Roshawn Beere - bass
  • Steve Bohner - drums
  • Pablo Midence - guitar/vocals
  • Andy Sorter - keyboard/vocals

Join us next week on KHSU for the brilliant chamber music of A Company Of Voices, or set your DVRs for 10pm Saturday on PBS North Coast.

Lost Coast Sessions is a collaboration between KHSU and PBS Northcoast.
