My Favorite Lecture LIVE: Honeymooners to Honey Boo-Boo - How TV Portrays the White Working Class

KHSU invites you to a live taping of My Favorite Lecture! The reception at 6, lecture at 7.

Professor Kirby Moss's lecture, titled "Honeymooners to Honey Boo-Boo", will unpack how TV programs portray the white working class.

He'll discuss how we, as a culture, are so uncomfortable dealing with social class issues, especially void of race. Explore the topic through the lens of television and the media in general.

From the 'Honeymooners' in the 1950s to reality TV of the 2000s, Moss will how TV producers use comedy, geography and low culture to separate working-class whites from middle-class whites on the screen and in society.

The lecture is FREE and features a reception courtesy of Arcata MainStreet starting at 6pm at Plaza Grill. There will be no-host bar as well.

This event will be recorded for KHSU.
