PBS "Great American Read" Launches Locally at Eureka Theater

What do the 100 most beloved books  say about who we are? "The Great American Read " is a new PBS series that answers that question and more. PBS North Coast(KEET) kicks off the eight-part series with a sneak preview in the Eureka Theater on September 11th starting at 6 pm.

From life lessons to spiritual journeys, books help us understand our identities. The public is invited to share their favorite books and why they love to read. Guests can share their thoughts on books featured in the  Great American Read's list of 100 with PBS North Coast's  Katie Whiteside between 6 and 7 that evevning in the mezzanine of the Eureka Theater. The screening begins at 7 pm. You can still vote for your favorite books at the PBS' Great American Read site.

THE GREAT AMERICAN READ is a series that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey). It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.
