Cal Fire Mendocino Unit

**Update Wednesday 6:50 PM: Fire has grown to 300,086 acres  with 47% containment. 116 residences have been destroyed.

**Update Tuesday morning: Numbers released today reveal that the Mendocino Complex fires have grown to 290,692 acres and containment has increased to 34 percent. 

**Update: Cal Fire reports that both the Ranch and River Fires have collectively become the largest wildfire recorded in California as the fires burned 283,800 acres by Monday night. It remains at 30 percent containment. 

Cal Fire's Charlie Blankenheim said firefighters mad some progress and were able to open up Highway 20 and Highway 29 on Monday. Blankenheim said there was more progress on some parts of the River Fire. 

Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit

A total of 500 homes and structures are destroyed and 75 are damaged by the Carr Fire in Shasta County. Additionally, 4,978 structures are threatened. The fire has grown to 80,906 acres and is 5 percent contained. More than 38,000 people have evacuated. Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit is set to hold a community meeting conference at 4 p.m. today (Saturday, July 28) at Alta Mesa Elementary School-at 2301 Saturn Sky Way in Redding.

**UPDATE 6:40 a.m. : Cal Fire lists new mandatory evacuations in Swasey to Lower Springs, Lower Springs to State Route 299, Victoria Drive and all roads coming off Victoria. 

Klamathon Fire at 55 Percent Contained

UPDATE at 8:15 a.m.: Cal Fire via Twitter reports that the Klamathon Fire is now 60 percent contained and still at 36,500 acres. Evacuations are in effect. Check out their update here

The Klamathon Fire is spreading across the California-Oregon border, but Cal Fire reports that it is now 55 percent contained. The fire has scorched over 36,000 acres and destroyed 82 structures so far. Three firefighters were injured and one person has died. Cal Fire’s incident report says that over a thousand structures remain threatened.
