New Fire Emerges in Mendocino

Fires continue to impact regions east, north and to the south of Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Now another fire has started in Mendocino. Cal Fire reports that the Eel Fire was at 865 acres on Tuesday night. The fire started off Indian Dick and Mendocino Pass roads, which is near  Covelo. 

Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit

A total of 500 homes and structures are destroyed and 75 are damaged by the Carr Fire in Shasta County. Additionally, 4,978 structures are threatened. The fire has grown to 80,906 acres and is 5 percent contained. More than 38,000 people have evacuated. Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit is set to hold a community meeting conference at 4 p.m. today (Saturday, July 28) at Alta Mesa Elementary School-at 2301 Saturn Sky Way in Redding. 

Forest Service Reclamation Cleans Up Illegal Grow Sites

In a multi-agency effort, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Service restored several illegal marijuana grow sites. Through Law Enforcement and Investigations, a grow site reclamation operation was conducted. The operation focused on eight sites in Trinity County, which impact the South Fork of the Trinity River was completed from May 8 to May 11, 2018.
