One dollar from each pint sold will go directly to McKinleyville BMX non-profit as they prepare for the upcoming BMX track build right here in McKinleyville! FRIENDS OF THE REDWOOD LIBRARIES
Spring is here and it’s time for a big BOOK SALE to celebrate! The sale will be held Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.at the Eureka Library, 1313 Third St. Friday’s sale is for members only, with memberships available at the door. Saturday’s sale is open to everyone.
Thousands of books will be available for purchase. This sale will be especially strong in the area of History and there will also be many Cookbooks, as well as CDs and DVDs. Many of the books on offer are in LIKE NEW condition. Cash sales welcome; small bills appreciated. Credit cards accepted for purchases over $5.00, including memberships.
As always, proceeds from the sale will benefit the entire Humboldt County Library system.
Keynote speaker is Jennifer Savage, of the SurfRider Foundation. Rex Bohn, Chair of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will speak about challenges and goals facing the County. Civic Contribution Awards will be presented to seismic expert Lori Dengler, emeritus professor of geology. and Jeff Lamoree and the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation. Lunch is catered and will include a vegetarian option. Reservations must be made in advance.

Chad Opitz is a comic whose hilarious and unique perspectives make him an oft booked staple at Bay Area clubs and showcases. Veering between one-liners, short story jokes, and sometimes even song, Opitz' writing is as well-regarded as his character and performance work.
Chad has been a featured guest on the Doug Loves Movies Podcast and The Benson Interruption. He was a featured performer at the 2016-2019 San Francisco Sketchfests. Chad was the winner of Bay Area legend Jimmy Gunn's "Best Newcomer" award. He is a regular host at Punch Line San Francisco and Sacramento, Cobb's Comedy Club and is a feature act at Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club and San Jose Improv. He's been invited to perform for High Plains Comedy Festival in Denver, Altercation Comedy Festival in Austin, TX. and the B4UDie Comedy Festival in Anchorage, Alaska.
Chad has been featured in several short films and commercials, including Walgreens Red Nose Day to help end child poverty. He was cast as "young Francis Ford Coppola" for the 4th season of Amazon Prime's Goliath starring Billy Bob Thornton.He's opened for Michelle Wolf, Melissa Villasenor, David Cross, Brian Posehn Scott Thompson, Christopher Titus, Gad Elmaleh, ISMO, Rob Schneider, Neil Hamburger, Taylor Tomlinson, Tom Green, Bobcat Goldthwait, Brooks Wheelan and many more.

Celebrate Earth Day with Humboldt Pet Supply with our first Marsh Clean-Up of the year! Meet up at Humboldt Pet Supply (145 G St Arcata) at 10am. We'll outfit you with all the clean-up supplies you'll need, plus fuel you up with FREE Kinetic coffee and donuts! We'll then head to the Marsh as a group to clean up trash and pet waste for about an hour. We'll reconvene at HPS around to weigh all the waste and give out gifts for participating!!
