56th Annual Trinidad to Clam Beach Run

56th Annual Trinidad to Clam Beach Run

The beloved annual Trinidad to Clam Beach Run is back! Join this fun run as you run down the bluffs of Scenic Drive, splash through the river at Moonstone Beach, and trek your way across the sands of Clam Beach. If it’s not on your bucket list for unforgettable races, it should be! The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run will be held on January 29th, 2022 with the starting line at Saunders Park (400 Janis Ct, Trinidad) at 12:30 P.M. In order to streamline our efforts coming out of the pandemic, we will be hosting ONLY the 5 3/4 Race. The other two races (8 3/4 and 3 miles) will be back next year! Great for all ages, you can sprint, run, or walk this gorgeous trail in the fresh clean Pacific air, and after the race, there will be a socially-distant party on the beach to celebrate your victory, along with a hot bowl of chili, music, and a bonfire! Worried about what the weather will be doing in late January? According to race coordinator, Melanie Ward, you shouldn’t be! “I’ve been helping with this race for several years, and the years it has been a little drizzly are just as fun as the sunny race days.” Late January can be any range of weather, but the history of this race is kickstarting the HSU Running Club’s track season—and making sure each runner hadn’t gone too soft over the holiday break. “This race is about soaking up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest!” assures Melanie. “I promise, you may cross that finish line a little bit soaked, but grinning!” Register online at www.exploretrinidadca.com/tcbr by January 10th and receive your own TCBR T-shirt. To pick up your race packets early, stop by the Jogg’n Shoppe in Arcata at 1090 G St, on Friday, January 28th between 3 P.M. and 6 P.M. If you will be picking up your packet on race day, January 29th, stop by the Trinidad Town Hall at 409 Trinity St. Keep in mind, if you register between January 11th - 29th, you will not receive a T-shirt. Street parking is available in Trinidad. Parking at Clam Beach is limited, so please let your loved ones know to carpool if they will be joining for the festivities. There will be a shuttle service for the runners who need transport from the South Clam Beach parking lot back to Town Hall where registration was held. Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status, to be worn on the shuttle bus and will be provided for your convenience. ---- The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run began as a winter training race back in 1966. Originally organized by Ford Hess, the Humboldt State Track and Field Coach, this race was designed to get his runners in shape for the coming year. Over the years, it has since evolved into a nationally known run, with 3, 5 3/4, and 8 3/4-mile events.
