FCC 2017 Ruling on Net Neutrality

Danielle Orr

In a recent ruling, the FCC has re-reclassified broadband as a Title I information service and repealed all the prior net neutrality rules.  Executive Director for Access Humboldt, Sean McLaughlin speaks to Danielle Orr about the latest FCC ruling.

Until the Bush administration, the FCC had required the companies that owned the lines over which the bits traveled (the phone companies) to leave the traffic alone, not getting in the way of customers and the information they want to download, the applications they want to run, or the devices they want to attach to the network.
