Solidarity Vigil Held Monday at Courthouse

Local community organizers hosted a vigil Monday evening at the Humboldt County Courthouse.  According to the Northern Humboldt For Bernie Facebook event page: "Are you also heartbroken at the murders that took place in Orlando, Baton Rouge, Saint Paul, Dallas, and in other towns across the country? Some of your neighbors are yearning to grieve with you, rather than alone..."

Additionally, join Thursday Night Talk this week for a special Town Hall episode. A representative from the Eureka Branch of the NAACP will join host (and fellow NAACP member) Lorna Bryant. Guests will also include Humboldt State University chief of police Donn Peterson; local MFT Paula Nedelcoff; African American Arcata citizen Michael Mathews, to name a few.

Please tune in and join the discussion Thursday, July 14th at 7:00 pm. Call in at 707-826-4805 or 800-640-5911.

Via the Northern Humboldt For Bernie:

Are you also heartbroken at the murders that took place in Orlando, Baton Rouge, Saint Paul, Dallas, and in other towns across the country? Some of your neighbors are yearning to grieve with you, rather than alone. We invite you to step forward for a moment and say to our all other members of our Beloved Community: Our liberation is bound up in your liberation. Until you are safe and thriving, we are not safe and thriving. Come join us. Sing. Bring a flower. Light a candle. Spend a moment in genuine connection with your neighbors. Ask together, "What must change so that these systems meant to protect us, truly protect ALL of us--especially our loved ones who are Black, Native, brown, LGBT ...?
