Pamela F. Service’s “The Legend of Young Merlin” highlights this year’s Plays in the Park at Redwood Park in Arcata. The family play directed by Alex Service explores the themes of identity, tolerance and discovery. It’s a magical adventure appropriate for all ages. The play will have three Sunday performances: July 29, Aug. 5 and 12. All performance times are at 2 p.m. Also scheduled for Plays in the Park this year is Park Fest on Sunday, Aug. 19, and the 24-Hour Play Festival Aug. 18-19. All Plays in the Park events are free to the public. More information is available on their Facebook page.
