Artwaves: Eureka High Players Take Lemons, Make Radio Lemonade

KZZH-LP/Facebook

What do the Eureka High Players do when renovations prevent them from building stage sets? They do an old-time radio drama, to be aired on KZZH-LP. "We decided it'd be fun to focus on storytelling rather than sets, costumes, and lights," director Nan Voss tells Wendy Butler. Voss used this as an opportunity "to get the atmosphere of a story across without all of the usual stuff we have to tell a story."

According to KZZH, "This faithful recreation of Orson Welles' 1938 Mercury Theater version (of the H.G. Wells classic tale) will be broadcast "live" on KZZH-LP 96.7 on Friday, October 27th at 7:30pm. You may also attend one of the three performances at the EHS Auditorium on October 26, 27 or 28th!"

Also on this episode of Artwaves, two cast members and a co-director from Good People discuss Redwood Curtain's latest show. Actors Petty Metzger and Craig Benson, alongside co-director Kaitlyn Samuel talk to Artwaves about this Bostononian story of struggle, class and change.

Good People runs Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm, opening October 26 through November 18. Friday Focus is November 3. Arrive at 7:15pm to hear from director and/or designers and stay after the show to meet the actors for more discussion.
