William Deresiewicz’s new book details just how bad our economy is for artists

Even before the pandemic, it wasn’t easy to make a living as an artist in the United States. The digital economy has certainly made it easier to reach an audience, but it presents a number of other challenges. Portlander William Deresiewicz’s new book, “The Death of the Artist,” chronicles the economic threats to art and artists in the U.S. today.
