Charmaine Lawson

Lorna Bryant / KHSU

Charmaine Lawson, mother of slain HSU student, David Josiah 'DJ' Lawson, stopped by The Place Sunday, September 23rd for a chat with KHSU's Lorna Bryant/L Boogie. Lawson has traveled to Humboldt County nearly every month since the tragic death of her beloved DJ. Although Ms. Lawson was in town for the monthly vigil on September 15th, she returned just a week later to meet with Senator Mike  McGuire to ask for his assistance in her son's ongoing murder investigation.

In her time in the KHSU studio, several family members called in to express their support of  the Lawson family and KHSU for continuing to keep the name of DJ Lawson alive.

The Arcata City Council was met with a full house this Wednesday as Humboldt State Students, Arcata residents and Charmaine Lawson, mother of David Josiah Lawson who was killed at a party in April, filled the council chambers asking for more answers to a case that has lasted close to five months.  Charmaine Lawson was accompanied by friends and family as she presented a petition with a thousand signatures from students and community members from Humboldt County and Lawson’s hometown in Southern California’s Inland Empire.
