Fire Update | Discrimination In Stores | The Science Of Compassion

The Substation Fire near The Dalles has burned over 50,000 acres since it started Tuesday night. One person has died, and dozens of homes have been evacuated. OPB reporter Ericka Cruz Guevarra is on the scene.

Portland lawyer Jason Kafoury is representing 5 clients who say they were discriminated against because of their race in local stores. Jamal Winchester is one of those clients. He was stopped coming out of a Walmart and accused of stealing the fishing pole he had just purchased. Kafoury says this is part of a larger trend of discrimination faced by people of color in this area.
