Two Indigenous Oregonians weigh in on ‘Day of Rage’ property damage
On Sunday night, protesters in downtown Portland knocked down two statues of former U.S. presidents and damaged several businesses including the Oregon Historical Society. The protesters were participating in an event called “Indigenous People’s Day of Rage.” Some local Indigenous leaders have condemned the violence and characterized it as counterproductive.

Marine Board limits wakeboarding in much of the lower Willamette River
This summer, when Oregonians flock to the Willamette to enjoy river sports, there will be a new set of rules to follow. The Oregon State Marine Board recently banned wake surfing on a large section of the Lower Willamette from downtown Portland to Oregon City. The board also limited the use of water skis, wake boards, and jet skis.

Allegations of ODOT mismanagement in removal of trees burned by wildfires
The state has already removed nearly 30,000 hazard trees along roads and properties that burned in last year’s wildfires, and it plans to remove a total of 140,000 trees. Last week, Oregon lawmakers heard numerous allegations of mismanagement and haste in the tree removal process. OPB’s Cassandra Profita has been covering the story and fills us in.
