NPR's Richard Knox reports on new evidence that anti-HIV drugs are restoring the immune systems of people who had lost nearly all protection against infection. Two studies in this week's New England Journal of Medicine show that most people on so-called combination therapy for HIV no longer need to take drugs to prevent a type of pneumonia that often strikes people with weakened immune systems.
