Lissie Rydz searched for 6 months before finding housing in Arcata. She says the city's "Gateway Plan" will help resolve Arcata's housing shortage.

Arcata is trying to resolve its housing shortage by rezoning an area west of the plaza to accommodate large apartment buildings. City officials will take public feedback on the draft Gateway Plan during the Jan. 11 Planning Commission meeting, and at open houses Jan. 21 and 22 at the Community Center.

Stakeholders wanting alerts about future opportunities to provide feedback can sign-up for the city's e-notifications.

To share resources, information, and perspectives with neighbors, residents can join the Arcata Gateway District Community Facebook group.

In reporting for KHSU, Eric Black focuses on the challenges and controversies surrounding development projects.
