OSP Trooper Shot On Christmas Recovering After 3rd Surgery

The Oregon State Police trooper who was shot on Christmas had a third surgery Wednesday. The surgery went well, according to state police.

Trooper Nic Cederberg was shot multiple times Sunday night while he was pursuing a homicide suspect near Sherwood.

"He is strong and a fighter," OSP said on its Facebook page Wednesday. "Nic is on a good trajectory considering the trauma he suffered on Christmas."

Cederberg was last listed in critical condition. He’s being treated at Oregon Health and Science University.

Cederberg’s wife, Hayley Shelton, is an officer with the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct.

The family has asked for privacy.

A candlelight vigil open to the public is planned for 6 p.m. Monday night in North Plains at the Jessie Mays Community Center.
