Greyhound's Old Town Chinatown bus station has been replaced with a small ticketing office a block to the south.

Greyhound has relocated its Portland bus terminal, shutting down operations at its block-wide bus hub in Old Town Chinatown and replacing the station with a small ticketing office a block to the south.

Signs alerting travelers of the move have been pasted around the building located at 550 N.W. Sixth Ave. All signage has been removed from the facade since Labor Day weekend.

A new ticket booth has sprung up at 427 NW 6th Ave. Passengers will have to walk a few blocks north to board the bus on NW Station Way.

The Portland Business Journal, which first reported the relocation, says that commercial real estate agency CBRE is responsible for marketing the sale. The journal reports the area has increasingly been eyed by builders as prime for redevelopment. Prosper Portland has two new developments slated for the area.

A representative for Greyhound said their decision to close down the station was influenced by their customers who had become “familiar with curbside pickup options and online and mobile ticketing features.”
