New research from Oregon Health and Science University suggests that a single dose of an antibody-based treatment could prevent HIV-infected mothers from passing the infection on to their newborn babies. The study done at the Oregon National Primate Research Center could lead to a major breakthrough, especially in developing countries. We'll hear from Nancy Haigwood, professor at the Oregon National Primate Research Center at OHSU and senior author of the new study published in the journal “Nature Communications.”

Three groups of schoolchildren will launch small boats they’ve built into the Pacific Ocean next week. The boats will collect scientific data as they travel through the ocean. The children have also been working in collaboration with classrooms in Japan. Nate Sandel manages the program for the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

When Cody Sheehy was 6 years old he got lost in the woods. Sheehy grew up in the Wallowa Valley of eastern Oregon, so the woods he got lost in were vast. But the 6-year-old decided that he would find his way out. So he followed a forest road and walked around 20 miles to the nearest town. Emma Marris wrote about Sheehy in Outside Magazine last year, and we talked to Sheehy then.
