Behind the Curtain: Humboldt Horror Film 'Behold and Hear'

Welcome to Behind the Curtain on KHSU, a show where we take a look behind the scenes of local theatre, performance art and other productions in Humboldt County.

With Halloween around the corner, what better time to premiere a Humboldt County horror movie? Premiering this coming weekend at the Eureka Theatre, “Behold and Hear” is a short horror film co-written and directed by Humboldt-raised filmmakers Malcolm and Ray DeSoto. Featuring local actors and shot entirely in Ferndale and Loleta, the film follows the story of a group of friends on a vacation, who run into some creepy misfortunes…

For this episode of Behind the Curtain, we sat down at the historic Eureka Theater with the DeSoto brothers ”, to learn more about how these Humboldt-raised filmmakers got started, what it was like working on this production and what audiences can expect from their upcoming short horror film.

“Behold and Hear” premieres on Saturday night, Oct. 25 at the Eureka Theatre — doors at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8. You can find more info and tickets here.

Thank you so much Ray and Malcolm DeSoto, everyone who worked on the production, and to the Eureka Theater. Thanks for listening to Behind the Curtain.
