A M 5.6 earthquake struck Mendocino County near Willits this morning, prompting emergency alerts.
According to the USGS, The quake was recorded at 8:10 a.m. with a M 2.5 aftershock recorded at 8:17.
The quake knocked out power to nearly 7500 residents between Leggett and Willits according to the PG&E outage map.
There is no threat of tsunami stemming from this earthquake, and very little, if any, damage has been reported in Humboldt County.
