On Wednesday September 17, 2025, at 6:30pm, The Arcata Police Department arrested 36-year-old Fresno resident, Shaine Scott Haugen.

On August 3, 2025, HCSO patrol deputies and Cal Fire law enforcement conducted a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance with the vacate order. On July 11, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) SWAT Team executed an arrest warrant at a residence in the 100 block of H Street, Arcata, as part of an ongoing homicide investigation conducted by the HCSO Major Crimes Division (MCD).
