A new exhibition will highlight the opening of a new gallery space in Eureka.
French artist Veronique Archambault’s “Spontanéité” will be on display in August at the new location of Black Faun Gallery, 528 Second St. (formerly St. Vincent de Paul), Eureka.
Black Faun was previously at another location on Second Street. Its new space will be larger and offer even more opportunities to showcase unusual two – and three-dimensional art as well as help build “artistic bridges” between continents.
The latter sentiment is courtesy of Humboldt County artist MarceauVerdiere, who facilitated Archambault’s visit to our area.

This is Archambault’s only United States exhibit. She brought with her a generous selection of drawings and is at present creating additional ones for display at Black Faun.
Her abstract ink works boast intriguing titles such as “Mémoires,” “Charlelie” and “Égalité” (Equality). Her art offers the viewer suggestions of figures amid a swirl of ink. The stories therein are full of myriad possibilities. The artist says creating art in the abstract offers her the freedom she desires.
