First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath
First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath
Special evening film screening and community conversation supporting Páah Áama Paddle Club, a culturally based paddlesport program for Karuk and other Native youth in Humboldt County. The event features First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath River, documenting a 30-day source-to-sea journey after the largest dam removal in U.S. history. Additional footage from River Roots will be shown, followed by a discussion with youth paddlers and instructor Amada Lang. Together, we’ll explore tribal sovereignty, river stewardship, youth leadership, and intergenerational connections to land and water. This event is part of the California Outdoor Economy Summit.
