Salmon Pass Hikes at Headwaters Forest Reserve
Salmon Pass Hikes at Headwaters Forest Reserve
Salmon Pass public hikes are scheduled for the second Sunday of each month from May to November. The BLM accepts reservations on the Headwaters website at https://www.blm.gov/programs/national-conservation-lands/california/headwaters-forest-reserve or by telephone at 707-825-2300.
The 7,472-acre Headwaters Forest Reserve was established in 1999 after a decade-long grassroots effort to protect the world’s last unprotected, intact, old-growth redwood forest ecosystem. Several threatened species, including coho salmon, the northern spotted owl, and the marbled murrelet benefit from the Reserve’s habitat.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
