Metro Portland’s top arts administrator has announced she’ll retire later this year.
Eloise Damrosch has led the Regional Arts & Culture Council since 2004 and served as public art director for seventeen years prior.
During her tenure, RACC has grown to a $10 million operation. The organization has taken on different jobs across Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, including the distribution of key operating support from the Portland city budget and the regional arts tax.
RACC board chair Mike Golub called Damrosch’s impact on the arts scene “indelible.” Portland Commissioner Nick Fish, who serves as council’s arts liaison, saluted her investments in public art and other areas.
Damrosch will stay on the job until June 30. RACC says it will make a national search for her replacement. No timeline has yet been set.
