University of Oregon football coach Willie Taggart announced earlier this week that he’s taking the head coach job at Florida State. Taggart has been with the Ducks for less than a year and the timing of his departure has made a lot of people unhappy. Tyson Alger, Ducks reporter for The Oregonian/OregonLive.com gives us the scoop on what this move means.
The recently opened Mountain View Champions Park in Aloha was designed with disabled park-goers in mind. The park is home to Oregon’s first outdoor field for disabled athletes and play structures that accommodate wheelchairs. Tyler Jones, whose 8-year-old son has cerebral palsy, lives near the park and joins us.
This fall, Portland Public School District district is closing the special education program at Pioneer School in order to make a home for the ACCESS Academy — a specialized school for a subset of talented and gifted students. The district will send some Pioneer students to dedicated space at Applegate Elementary and provide services to other students in neighborhood schools. PPS Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero joins us, along with Mary Pearson, who oversees Special Education for the district. We are also joined by Karin Dean, whose son attends the Pioneer School, and Cory Wellington, a teacher at Pioneer School.
