Fifty years after the Fair Housing Act was passed, a panel hosted by the Oregon Historical Society examined the history of discrimination in Southern Oregon and its lasting effects on the region today. Two of the panelists, Louise Dix, an education specialist for the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, and Chelsea Rose, a historical archaeologist at Southern Oregon University, join us.
Historic Portland movie house the Laurelhurst Theater recently announced it will shift from showing second-run to first-run films. We hear from Woody Wheeler, co-owner of the theater, about why they’re making the change and what it reflects about the movie industry.
