Sneaker Week | Winemakers Of Color | Genetically Modifying Trees

On Sunday, the second annual Sneaker Week kicked off in Portland. Herbert Beauclere, the co-founder of the week, joins us to talk about the event.

A new documentary tells the story of winemakers of color in Oregon. We talk about “Red, White And Black” with director Jerry Bell Jr. and Bertony Faustin, the state’s first black winemaker and owner and winemaker at Abbey Creek Vineyard and Winery.

A recent field study out of Oregon State University demonstrated that trees can be genetically engineered to prevent new seedlings from establishing. Steve Strauss, a distinguished professor of biotechnology at OSU, discusses the findings from the largest aggregate study of genetically engineered trees in the world.
