‘The Dakota Winters’ Recreates 1980s New York City

Tom Barbash’s new novel “The Dakota Winters” takes readers inside New York City’s famed Dakota apartments through the eyes of a young man returning home. The novel creates a portrait of New York in 1980 — and the people who made it unique, including the Dakota’s most famous resident, John Lennon — and follows a family saga of a son negotiating his relationship with his father. Barbash joins us in studio to discuss the novel, and how his childhood in the Upper West Side influences his writing.
