Juul says it helps adults quit smoking cigarettes. San Francisco officials want e-cig companies out of the city, with City Attorney Dennis Herrera saying, “let’s be clear, their product is addiction.”

Juul Labs, headquartered in city-owned property in the Dogpatch neighborhood, makes up over 70 percent of the e-cigarette market.

Top U.S. tobacco company Altria last year bought a 35 percent stake in Juul, bringing the nation’s leading e-cigarette and old school flaming-cigarette makers together at last.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Juul spent over $1.6 million lobbying for tobacco last year.
