Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail has seen 35 inmate deaths since 2014, the fourth highest among county jails in California. And the jail staff have also been accused of routinely mistreating inmates. Investigative journalist Scott Morris look into several deaths at Santa Rita and allegations against deputies in a recent article for the East Bay Express called “The Most Dangerous Place in Alameda County.”
