The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay was fined $1.6 million by the California Coastal Commission for not providing proper access to public beaches that adjoin the pricey resort.
You’d think management at the Ritz-Carlton would’ve gotten wind of a beach access battle royale just a few minutes down the coast and been on their best behavior.
The $1.6 million penalty is the second-highest fine in the history of the Coastal Commission, which was established in 1972 to protect California’s coast.
Now get out there and enjoy the wonderful (and very public) beaches of California.
