The red areas with white spots indicate increased levels of what’s called fire radiative power, detected by NASA satellites; they do not necessarily show acreage that the fire has burned. The map also includes the fire perimeter, evacuation zones, road closures, emergency shelters, PG&E outage areas and other local information.
