Flood Warning Issued in San Francisco, Advisories in Surrounding Counties

Heavy rains are pouring down on the Bay Area this weekend. On Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning in San Francisco and advisories in Alameda, San Mateo and Contra Costa County.

Within one hour, an inch of rain fell in alate afternoon downpour in San Francisco. Residents across the city posted videos on social media showing flooded streets.

San Francisco’s Municipal Transportation Agency stopped several subway lines due to flooding.

According to the forecast, winds in excess of 40 miles per hour are to be expected, with pea size hail. Most of the storm’s heavy rain will end early evening Saturday, with the occasional showers lasting into the night. The larger storm is expected to end on Sunday evening.

The San Francisco Fire Department posted instructions on Twitter on how to navigate through streets during flooding.
