We discuss the shocking reports that federal officers in unmarked vehicles have been detaining protesters in Portland. Attorney Juan Chavez of the Oregon Justice Resource Center joins us along with our news roundtable guests Laura Gunderson, Kevin Mannix and Kalpana Krishnamurthy.

Statesman Journal reporter Whitney Woodworth and journalism student Hannah Kanik paired up through the Catalyst Journalism Project to reveal inconsistencies in lists used by prosecutors to keep track of police officers deemed untrustworthy. Prosecutors put officers on these so-called "Brady lists" when they have reason to believe the officers could jeopardize a case by giving unreliable testimony. Woodworth's and Kanik's reporting shows the practice vary widely by county and is applied inconsistently throughout the state. Some officers placed on Brady lists have had their careers upended, while others continued to move up the ranks. We hear more from Woodworth.

Powell’s Books hasn’t yet reopened any of its retail stores. CEO Emily Powell says she's just not sure the business would be there, or that the company can find a safe way to have enough employees in the store. Powell's has started holding virtual author events over Zoom. Emily Powell talks to us about the challenges facing her iconic Portland bookstores during this time.
