A couple of weeks ago, the internet, in all of its boundless wisdom, figured out how to calculate your NPR name. Itâs both simple and entertaining.
Iâm Gingham Winehouse, and this is how you do it:
Your NPR name is the name of your favorite pattern and a deceased singer/songwriter.
Iâm Argyle Cohen and youâre listening to NPR.

The possibilities are endless:
Your NPR name is the name of your favorite pattern and a deceased Singer-Songwriter.
Good evening, I'm Tattersal Temperton and this is All Things Considered.

My name is Herringbone Mercury, and you're listening to NPR on your local NPR station. In national news, not all patterns make the best NPR names. Here's Polka-dot Cobain and Stripes Sinatra with a more in depth look. @NPR
(You should be proud of this, Jennie! Your FB fame!) https://t.co/3pQHECFIyw

The formula has inspired creative problem solving:
I donât have a favorite pattern, so Iâm unable to configure my â@nprâ name. Maybe âSolid Chesnutt.â

And some important reminders:
My NPR name: HÄlu'a Kamakawiwo'ole.
They're only WASPy when one's background includes a narrow range of WASPy patterns and singers. Reach out and sample more broadly from art around the globe. https://t.co/WXlGBRDHck

And in case youâre wondering what your KQED name is, Iâve just decided that itâs this:
Your KQED name is the first word of a Bay Area landmark, plus the last name of any actor from a Hitchcock film.
I'm Coit Perkins, wishing you a pleasant afternoon.
