Heard in Humboldt: Trombone quartet "Tailbone"

Welcome to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU, a program where we play a range of live music performances captured in Humboldt County.

We’ve had so many incredible student performances shared with us recently by the Cal poly Humboldt music department, we decided to air another one, a real treat for any fans of the trombone.

This piece features trombone quartet, Tailbone — made up of Nate Heron, Francisco Gutierrez, Raymond Endert and Lily Storseth, of Cal Poly Humboldt. The song is “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” composed by Manning Sherwin and arranged by Gene Puerling and Rich Reay. This performance was recorded live at Fulkerson Recital Hall on Cal Poly Humboldt campus.

Thanks so much to the musicians and to the Cal Poly Humboldt music department for providing the recording. Thanks for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and tune in next time as we explore more live music from behind the redwood curtain.

Raised in Arcata, Stephanie McGeary has lived in Humboldt County for most of her life and is proud to share stories about this weird and beautiful place that she calls home.
