Welcome to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU, a program where we play a range of live music recordings from Humboldt County.

This week we’ll again be hearing some music from an old band some locals are sure to remember — the Fickle Hillbillies. This recording, which we dug out of the internet archives, was captured during a Fickle Hillbillies performance at the North Country Fair on the Arcata Plaza, on Sept. 22, 2001.

We’ve played a couple tunes from this set before and today we’ll feature a different song “Jimi Man.” This features band members Rob Johnson on guitar and vocals, John Chapman on guitar, Nick Kloeppel on bass and vocals, John Grippi on keys Andy Ardel on Drums and Dave Benami on sax. We hope you’ll enjoy being transported by to the northcountry fair in 2001 with the ficklehillbillies

You’re listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU, and we hearing “Jimi Man” by the Ficklehillbillies, captured live on the Arcata plaza during the North Country fair in sept. 2001. Thank you to all the members of the Fickle Hillbillies, to John Chapman who taped the recording, and to everyone involved in the performance and the 2001 North Country Fair.

Thanks for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and tune in next time, as we explore more live music from behind the redwood curtain.

And if you’re a local musician who would like your live recordings featured on Heard in Humboldt, send us an email to khsu@humboldt.edu
