Welcome to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU, a program where we play a range of live music recordings from Humboldt County.

This week we’re featuring a popular local group, the Absynth Quartet – made up of Ian Davidson on banjo, John Ludington on bass, Ryan Roberts on guitar and Mike “Tofü” Schwartz on drums. The song we’ll be hearing today is called “Robot Zero” and is off of their 2021 album of the same name. This recording was captured at the Arcata Playhouse on June 9, 2021, at a time when the world was still navigating the COVID pandemic. In an effort to bring live music to the community during COVID, many live streaming events were held, including this session, which was sponsored by the Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture. So, without further ado we hope you’ll enjoy this live recording of “Robot Zero” by the Absynth Quartet.

You can view the full performance video below and you can find the “Robot Zero” album and more of Abynth Quartet’s music on all streaming platforms. Thanks so much to the musicians, to Arcata Playhouse, the Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture and to Tofu for sharing the recording.

Thanks for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and tune in next time, as we explore more live music from behind the redwood curtain.

And if you’re a local musician who would like your live recordings featured on Heard in Humboldt, send us an email to khsu-contact@humboldt.edu
