Studies have shown that planting trees along sidewalks in cities improves both the environment and quality of life for all people, plants and animals in the area. Keep Eureka Beautiful has plans to line the streets of Eureka with trees, but needs your help… and sidewalk space.
This week, I'm meeting with Michele McKeegan from Keep Eureka Beautiful to learn more about the Eureka Street Tree Program.
The Street Tree Program is designed to help bring valuable street trees to eureka at low or no cost to Eurekans. The process is simple, start by sending an email to info@keepeurekabeautiful.com with your name, address, phone number, and email address, and they will send you an informational packet. From there, Michele will work with you and mark up the sidewalk if needed. All that is asked in return is to care for the tree.
Visit their website to learn more about the program, see what varieties of trees are available, and how to care for them.
Thank you for listening and stay tuned for more episodes of North Coast Conversations as we explore more of what the North Coast has to offer.
