Springtime is in full swing, which for birdwatchers means its migration season and prime time for observing the numerous birds returning to their breeding grounds, offering diverse species and vibrant displays. Here on the North Coast, that means it’s time for Godwit Days – our local bird festival that has spent the past 29 years offering field trips, lectures, and workshops for local birders and tourists alike.
This week we met with Alan Lowry, treasurer for the godwit days nonprofit organization, to discuss the history of the festival and what we can expect from this year’s upcoming Godwit days events.
Godwit Days is happening on April 17 through 20, with the main festivities taking place at the Arcata Community Center on April 18 though 20. You can find more information or register at godwitdays.org
Thank you for listening and stay tuned for more episodes of North Coast Conversations as we explore more of what the North Coast has to offer.
