North Coast Conversations: Food For People and the 'Letter Carriers Food Drive'

Welcome to North Coast Conversations on KHSU.

For more than 40 years, Food for People – the food bank of Humboldt County — has been working to eliminate hunger and improve the health and well-being of our community, through providing access to nutritious foods, community education and advocacy. Coming up on May 9 is Food for People’s largest food drive of the year – Letter Carriers Day, when letter carriers pick up donations from your porch and deliver them straight to the local food bank.

This week we met with Carly Robbins, Executive Director of Food for People to learn more about the organization and how you can help “stamp out hunger” by donating to the Letter carriers food drive.

The Letter Carriers Food Drive is happening this Saturday May 9, with blue bags arriving in mailboxes this week. You can find more info on the drive and Food For People's services at foodforpeople.org. For North Coast Conversations and KHSU, I’m Stephanie McGeary. Thanks for listening.

Raised in Arcata, Stephanie McGeary has lived in Humboldt County for most of her life and is proud to share stories about this weird and beautiful place that she calls home.
Alejandro Zepeda has worked for KHSU since early 2020, curating the news page, and working to add more locally-focused community content in the form of shows and PSA's to KHSU's lineup.
