Foragers
Foragers
Honor Earth Day. Come see Foragers, a film that shows how elderly Palestinians are caught between their right to forage on their own land and the harsh restrictions imposed by their occupiers. Filmed in the Golan Heights, the Galilee and Jerusalem, Similar to how Indigenous peoples in Humboldt county were forbidden to live on their own land and outlawed by the federal government to salmon fish, resulting in arrest. Similar for Palestinians, these laws constitute an ecological veil for legislation that further dispossess them from their land. Following the plants from the wild to the kitchen, from the chases between the foragers and the Israeli patrol, to courtroom defenses, Foragers captures the joy and knowledge embodied in these traditions alongside their resilience to the prohibitive law.
