Intrepid Women
Intrepid Women
To honor Women's Equality Day (date of the certification of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution), join us at the Gazebo in Old Town Eureka from 11 a.m. to approximately 12:15 p.m. as we celebrate a wide range of intrepid women.
Readers will take turns sharing the names and most notable accomplishments of women from different time periods, cultures, ethnicities, and fields of endeavor (the arts, sciences, politics and more), including women who fought for women's suffrage.
This event was suggested by and is being offered by members of an OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) course taught by Molly Cate at Cal Poly Humboldt last fall entitled “Intrepid Women.” The League of Women Voters of Humboldt County is co-sponsoring this event and League members will also participate. Join us as we celebrate women who have braved disapproval and disdain as they made our world a better place for all.
Molly Cate is an educator in the OLLI Cal Poly Humboldt program and is the spiritual leader of Unity Church of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA. For more information, contact her at awestruckliving@gmail.com.
