Join Friends of the Eel River and our allies for solidarity gatherings on the second Monday of each month at Humbrews in Arcata from 5 - 7pm.

On May 11 we will be joined by the North Coast Growers’ Association, who operate seven certified farmersʼ markets and manage programs that help with land access and food equity across Humboldt County. Learn from NCGA about the challenges farmers face, advocate for food access by voicing your support for the Market Match program, and join the conversation about how to create a sustainable future for local agriculture.

“We want to find creative ways for landholders, farmers, the government, and residents to team up,” says Ivy North, Ag Programs Director at NCGA. “We want healthy land to be a resource for future generations and local resiliency, not just something sold to the highest bidder.”

Additionally, Friends of the Eel River will provide updates on the latest Eel River news: The threat of a Southern California water grab. A water district 600 miles to the south claims to be interested in taking over the Potter Valley Project. This move, supported by the Trump administration, would remove local control and ownership of Eel River water supplies, endanger downstream residents, and upend the deal for regional support of Eel River dam removal. Join us to learn how to take action, stop the steal, and protect the Eel!

Join with community members to plan creative resistance to the Trump administration's destructive policies, learn about community initiatives, and take meaningful action to protect the people, creatures, and values we all hold dear.

Every month features a raffle, a variety of engaging activities, and opportunities to both share and learn about local organizing efforts.
