MMIP/MMIW Solidarity Event

MMIP/MMIW Solidarity Event

D.I.Y. ART, a DreamMaker Project of the Ink People Center for Arts and Culture, is bringing community members together during a May 2nd public workshop designed to raise awareness and foster solidarity around the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) crisis.

California has the fifth-highest number of MMIP cases in the United States, and Humboldt County is among the regions most heavily impacted, with Native people going missing at significantly higher rates than the national average.

D.I.Y. ART will host Native Elders and Culture Bearers who have been directly impacted by the MMIP crisis. Through storytelling and shared experiences, they will guide conversations on how community members can show up in meaningful, supportive ways. Artwork created during the workshops will be displayed throughout Humboldt County as a visible expression of awareness and solidarity. A buffet lunch will be served and snack packs distributed to participants.
