Join the merry band of ivy bashers at the Fireman’s Pavilion in Rohner Park on the third Saturday of Every Month at 9 a.m. Bring gloves if you have them or you can borrow a pair. Join other nature lovers in the progress on this small community driven botanical garden which features native species. Contribute as you are able to the creation of habitat for the local bees, birds, butterflies and other little creatures. Take home some cuttings/seeds.
Bring a bucket and garden tool, or just your enthusiasm!

Directions: Go west on Hiller Road to the parking lot for Hammond Trail/Soccer Field/Dog Park. Garden is adjacent to playground.

Happening every third Sunday at Om Shala Yoga Studio in Arcata. Hands-on healers offer Reiki, tuning fork therapy, and aromatherapy, enhancing the journey with nurturing touch and subtle frequencies. Each gathering also includes a deeply restful yoga nidra meditation, soul-stirring vocalists, and special guest musicians.

While some props are available, you're welcome to bring your own pillows, mats, and blankets to create your perfect “rest nest.”

Help Participate in the California All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (CalATBI) by collecting soil samples from your own backyard!

California is one of only 36 biodiversity hotspots on planet Earth. The immense scale of California’s diversity means much of it remains unexplored, with thousands of species yet to be discovered. CalATBI is a specimen-based, DNA-powered effort to finally discover all of California’s biodiversity.

CalATBI efforts include conducting field work to find unexplored biodiversity, sequencing millions of specimens to build a DNA barcode reference library, developing next-generation technologies to accelerate discovery, and preserving biodiversity specimens and samples for the benefit of future generations.

Our goal is to save our precious biodiversity today, for tomorrow and always.

You can help by participating in our North Coast BioBlitz September 22nd through October 10th.
We are particularly interested in collecting soil samples from natural areas with native plant cover. Does that sound like your backyard or other private land you have access to with landowner permission? If so, please visit our to sign up!
